Contra Costa County is creating an Active Transportation Plan! The Plan will focus on improving walking, biking, and rolling (i.e., wheeled mobility devices used by people with disabilities, strollers, scooters, skateboards, etc.) in the unincorporated areas of the County. Input from community members will help us develop this Plan. We hope you will share your experiences, challenges, and vision of walking, biking, and rolling with us. At the end of the project, the Plan will have a list of prioritized project recommendations that will:
- Improve infrastructure conditions and create new routes for people to walk, bike, and roll
- Make walking, biking, and rolling to parks, schools, stores, and other community destinations safer and more comfortable
- Prioritize community engagement efforts and project recommendations in disadvantaged communities
- Develop a list of implementable projects to help the County improve safety and comfort for people walking, biking, and rolling
- Project Kick-off
- Launched project website, survey, and interactive map
- Began stakeholder outreach process
- Released draft project recommendations
- Start community engagement Phase 2
There are multiple ways for you to get involved with the project. You will find the project’s interactive webmap above, which will allow you to tell us where you walk, bike, and roll around the County, as well as areas that represent barriers for people biking, walking, and rolling.
The Plan Update process is scheduled to be completed by the end of winter 2021-2022.
